I spent the whole day at a sacred site near my home. It is a provincial park and UNESCO World Heritage Site called "Writing On Stone/Áísínai´pi" in southern Alberta. The site, along the Milk River, has sandstone cliffs that contain rock art petroglyphs and hoodoos (spires of rocks formed by erosion). The Blackfoot Nation's people believe that the hoodoos/matapiiksi have a spirit, like other earth beings and they leave offerings in the cavities when they visit. They have gone to this site since 1,000 BC and performed vision quests there and still do to this day.
I did some walking and absorbed the spirit of the place. I felt transported into another time, another place. I have much gratitude for this place and consider it one of many Well Keeper's site on this beautiful Earth. With serene love to all of you! Andrée
