I chose this week of my 75th birthday to do a five day, media free personal retreat. And thought, "Why not tend the well over these quiet and rare days?" My friend Patricia Tashiro offered to join me as a well keeper. It means a lot to me to be doing it together. We agreed to dedicate this week to listening to the earth and her all her creatures. I am in Tofino, a remote town in British Columbia, in a northern rain forest, on a wild coast. Already I am settling into a slow rhythm, and feel complication washing out of my cells. Here are a few photos of trees, massive, old way keepers who seem to be as grateful as I am to be present together in the thundering silence. Many of them grow out of trees who laid down hundreds of years ago and now support a profusion of new growth and trees who are themselves reaching maturity. The fallen trees are called "nurse trees". It is very clear to me that these beings have been tending the well non-stop, some for over a thousand years. I am profoundly humbled.

One of my favorite places on our planet was paddling Tofino to FLORES Island, where we walked in old growth Forest on this tribal pathway amongst ancient beings, and wolves, patted amongst our tents at night.
Such a sacred place enjoy and thank you for tending this nurse tree earth🙏🏾🌟
