I awoke with e.e.cummings's poem on repeat in my psyche:
"I thank You God for most this amazing
day; for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes..."
My body remembered the joy I experienced when I first discovered this poem as a teenager.
Then, internalized remembered music showed up--a violin sonata--and my whole being opened even more as I listened to it playing in my heart.
I walked out into the cool of the morning and was greeted by a cacophony of bird song--pee wee, wood thrush, red-eyed vireo, the insistent call of a pileated woodpecker, and a plethora of general merry twittering.
The body remembers and easily accesses its connection to all things "counter, original, spare, strange" as Gerard Manley Hopkins put it.
What a day to be alive, to tap into the One Well under the blue arc of the sky!
