Sunday's day of Silence
On these days that I step into silence I often take myself on a walk specifically to listen deeply to what comes to me in my silent revery. Today as the north wind blew cold and the songbirds were absent, I looked up and saw a pair of Merlins circling high in the sky. My first sighting of Merlins this spring. For me, Merlins remind me of how we have been able to bring some of these raptors back from near extinction after the over use of DDT. So a sign of hope for me, that yes sometimes we humans find our way back from our destructive ways. I also love the Merlin as it was the traditional falconry bird for noblewomen. They are strong and swift and smart. They are often portrayed as symbols of protection, courage and acuity. As I watched, the day that was so very cold and in many ways uninviting became a place of miracle and grace made manifest. A blessed day to stand witness to the sacred. A sweet sip from the well we have all tended. The circle continues to be enriched. May it be so.
It’s a great example of the perfect juxtapositions that live in every day.
When the wellspring appear to trickle into the moment, it's like magic, but much more.
What its really trickling into are our eyes, for the Merlins have been going from one point to another since they were born in this world, but not everyone with eyes see them.
Thank you for sharing the wellspring with us so we can see as you see.
