Spring has sprung here in New Hampshire! Everything is bursting out and in blossom. Green in every shade and hue graces the entire landscape and there is such an energy to get up, get out and do. Contemplating what my next "thing" on the list was, I sat for a moment.
And sure enough, that simple act of sitting and pausing stopped me in my tracks. It is the day of sabbath for many, the day of well keeping for me. Sitting and stopping I felt my breath shift, deepen, steady. My heart open ~ a wave of gratitude for the wisdom and beauty of the way my life continues to unfold. Challenges, blessings, opportunites, setbacks. So much wisdom and guidance when I stop and see the overall flow of it and how the moments weave together. Deep feelings surface in the act of sitting quietly....taking a moment of prayer on a beautiful day.
We were in Morocco last month for a couple of weeks on a birding trip ~ a country of such diversity of ecosystems and predominantly Muslim. Five times a day, every day is the call to prayer. All over the country, in every city and the tiniest of villages. A call to prayer and men and women stopping to pray. I found such beauty in this ritual and that it is still alive in this part of the world....As I sat this morning I found myself drawn to put my hands together and bow my head. A call to prayer. It is a very powerful practice. Although I trust that much of the way I live is an active prayer - stopping to pray is a good thing to do.
A beautiful day to sit, connect with this international community of friends and this most incredible planet which we all tend and are blessed by.
With love,
Peri
