Well Keeper Reflections

Public·181 Well Keepers

June 14th

Dear Well Keepers, Just over a year ago my brother Tim died and I wanted to celebrate this first anniversary of his death with a Glorian.  A Glorian is a word coined by Terry Tempest Williams and in an article she wrote for Emergency Magazine she described it as, “When our attention is fused with another being - it can be a plant, animal, insect, a moment, a memory.  I do believe a Glorian is a moment of grace, unearned, unexpected, unwarranted.  It arrives and we are enveloped”

Here is my Glorian moment of tending our Well.

673 million people go hungry every day, this is 8% of our population.

Extinctions of our species have long since reached unacceptable levels

and still we read of new ones every day.

I feel overwhelmed, finger pointing and raging at this and that…

and then I am granted a Glorian moment.  Someone entered

my soul  and took charge, no fuss or drama just a simple

action I was ‘asked’ to do.  See, listen, act.  By feeding the one

in front of me who was hungry, i became part of the Love

always present, always walking beside us.

Here is my well tending for today June 14th.

‘In the doorway of a cafe, a young bearded man ahead of me,

spoke softly to the waitress,  “Any coffee”? he asked.

She smiled and nodded, taking £2 from the ‘tips’ box

and placing his order.  He spoke again, almost a whisper,

“Any food:?  Regretfully she shook her head.

Next in line I placed my order, “was he asking if there was free food”?

“yes” she said.  “I would like to buy him something, what

do you think he would like’?  She looked at me and

in that moment we ‘knew’ this wasn’t about us, something else was happening.

“Are you sure” she asked.  I nodded and she took from

the counter, a well filled baguette.  As I paid I said,

“Don’t tell him” and she nodded.  We smiled at

each other, I picked up my tea and croissant and

sat down.   That evening as I reflected on it all

i realized, that it wasn’t ‘me’ making the transaction,

providing a meal.  It was  a calm, clear Presence

that for those precious moments ihhabited me,

giving me a sense of belonging of playing a part

in a chain of events and that was all I needed to

do.  See, and listen with love and act if possible.

And you will be found and an opportunity provided.

Dear Serena, I'm sure Tim felt celebrated by the way you opened your heart to be inhabited by the Presence. today and the way you wrote about it blessed us, too.
