I wanted to ask you some of the questions that chased me around on the day of my Wellkeeping vigil. The answers that came are here too.
Does the Good outweigh the Bad? (No)
Does the Bad outweigh the Good? (No)
Does the Darkness pursue the Light across this world? (Yes)
Does the Light chase down the Darkness across this world? (Yes)
Several days after 9/11, as I watched a commercial jet pass high above, no more than an illuminated dot, I murmured, “Hundreds of souls”
Over the years, many sights have recalled that day, and that phrase, to mind. Churches, theaters, schools of fish, flocks of birds, oversold jets, all hold fascination and contemplation in equal parts for me - common purpose being the draw.
When the truth sparks - that we are one - and we are able to settle into this truth, the focus narrows, and allows us to see what’s expected, needed, and yearned for.
Forgiveness, acceptance, and love
The pendulum swings wildly and blindly now - neither extreme will vanish or bow to the other - but as we settle into our truth, we will calm the wildness, and see the path we all travel.
BEANNACHT
John O’Donohue
On the day when
The weight deadens
On your shoulders
And you stumble,
May the clay dance
To balance you.
And when your eyes
Freeze behind
The grey window
And the ghost of loss
Gets in to you,
May a flock of colours,
Indigo, red, green,
And azure blue,
Come to awaken in you
A meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays
In the currach of thought
And a stain of ocean
Blackens beneath you,
May there come across the waters
A path of yellow moonlight
To bring you safely home.
May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
May the clarity of light be yours,
May the fluency of the ocean be yours,
May the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
Wind work these words
Of love around you,
An invisible cloak
To mind your life.
Currach (a small round boat made of wickerwork covered with a watertight material, propelled with a paddle; a coracle.)
I love the questions, and the deep listening. May the slow wind surround you, and all beings. Thank you. Thank you.
