As I wrapped up my day, I was surprised that the golden thread was water. On a morning walk, the creek called me as it burbled toward the lake, dancing around forget-me-nots and jewelweed. I had lunch with an unlikely pair, saying yes to what came my way today. We sat by the falling water of a river sliding over a small dam, watching a wood duck family playing in the current, pushing upstream, and sliding back down the river, only to go again and again on their route. In the afternoon, I visited a holy place where many voices of past, present, and future have been and will be—sitting in silence, looking out over Lake Michigan to the Manitou Islands, listening to the songs of the waves as they glided in and out, singing a soft ‘hush’ on the sand or chattering among the stones.
Just now, as I reflect, I saw the thread that guided me today.
Blessings to those who have carried this mantel before and those who follow. It is truly a gift.

Just seeing this now, so lovely. The images of flow, past, present and future feels very similar to my experience sitting by the creek during my day of well keeping recently. Thank you for such beautiful imagery!
